Minecraft Seed Tools and Calculators
Not every question needs a full map. These Minecraft seed tools handle the small jobs players run into all the time. Find slime chunks for a farm, convert a text seed into its number or work out where to build a Nether portal.
Each tool works from your seed or your coordinates. Most results come with coordinates you can copy, and many include a /tp command. The tools support Java Edition 26.3 back to 1.12 and Bedrock Edition 26.50 back to 1.18, where the feature depends on edition.
All tools
Seed Finder and Random Seed Generator
The seed finder helps you look for a seed with the features you want near spawn. That saves you from creating world after world to test ideas.
The random seed generator gives you a fresh seed whenever you need one. Use it for a new survival world, a challenge run or a server reset. Then open the seed on the map to preview its spawn area before you commit.
Slime Chunk Finder
Slimes spawn in special chunks called slime chunks. About one chunk in ten is a slime chunk. In Java Edition, slimes in these chunks spawn below Y 40, which makes them ideal for an underground slime farm.
The slime chunk finder marks every slime chunk around you. In Java, the pattern depends on your seed. In Bedrock, slime chunks are placed the same way in every world, so the seed does not change them. Pick your edition before you build.
Slime chunks are always a full 16 by 16 block column that runs the whole height of the world. So once you find one, you can build the spawning floors to cover the whole chunk.
Ore Finder and World Spawn Finder
The ore finder predicts ore veins from your seed. It covers diamonds, ancient debris and eight other ores. Use it to pick a mining spot instead of strip mining blind.
The world spawn finder shows where new players appear in your world. That is handy when you plan a base near spawn, set up a server hub or check a seed before you play it. Every other finder on the site measures distance from this point.
Nether Portal Calculator
One block in the Nether equals eight blocks in the Overworld. To link two portals, you divide the Overworld X and Z by 8. To go the other way, you multiply by 8. Y stays the same.
The nether portal calculator does the math for you. Enter coordinates from either dimension and get the matching point in the other. Building portals at matching coordinates stops them from linking to the wrong portal. It also helps you reach a fortress or bastion fast.
Text to Seed and Chunk Calculator
When you type words into the seed box, the game turns them into a number. The text to seed tool shows you that number. Use it when you want to share a seed as a plain number, or when a tool only accepts numeric seeds. The same text always gives the same number, so the result never changes.
The chunk calculator converts block coordinates into chunk coordinates. A chunk is 16 by 16 blocks, so you divide by 16 and round down. It also helps you line up farms, slime chunks and chunk borders. Press F3 + G in Java Edition to see chunk borders in game.
Which Seed Tools to Use and When
Each tool fits a different moment in a world. Here is a quick guide to picking the right one.
- Starting a new world: use the random seed generator or the seed finder, then check spawn with the world spawn finder.
- Building farms: use the slime chunk finder for slime farms and the chunk calculator to line up chunk borders.
- Gathering resources: use the ore finder to plan mining trips.
- Traveling: use the nether portal calculator to link portals and cut long trips by eight.
- Sharing seeds: use text to seed to turn a word seed into a number your friends can paste.
All the tools read the same seed. So you can move from one to the next without typing it again each time.
Edition matters for some tools. Slime chunks and structure positions differ between Java and Bedrock. Biomes match since 1.18. Coordinates and chunk math work the same in both editions.
For biomes and structures, use the full finder pages instead. They show results on the live map in 3D or 2D, with a /tp command for each one.
FAQ
What is a slime chunk?
A chunk where slimes can spawn underground regardless of light level. In Java, about one in ten chunks is a slime chunk, and slimes there spawn below Y 40.
Are slime chunks the same in Java and Bedrock?
No. Java slime chunks depend on the seed. Bedrock slime chunks follow a fixed pattern that is the same in every world.
How do I convert Overworld coordinates to the Nether?
Divide X and Z by 8. To convert from the Nether back to the Overworld, multiply X and Z by 8.
Can I use words as a Minecraft seed?
Yes. The game converts the text into a number. The text to seed tool shows which number your words become.
How big is a Minecraft chunk?
A chunk is 16 by 16 blocks wide and runs the full height of the world.
How do I find the world spawn point?
Enter your seed in the world spawn finder. It shows where new players first appear, with coordinates you can copy.
