Minecraft Guides for Finding Things Faster

These guides explain how to find the things that matter in a Minecraft world: strongholds, ancient cities, trial chambers, villages, mansions, diamonds and ancient debris. Each one covers where the thing generates, how far from spawn it tends to be and what to look for in the game.

Every guide also shows the fast way: enter your seed on SeedMapView and the map shows exact coordinates, with a ready /tp command. The guides work for Java Edition and Bedrock Edition and point out where the two differ.

Finding structures

Structures are placed by the world seed on a grid of regions, so each type has a typical spacing. Villages are common and usually within a few hundred blocks. Woodland mansions and ocean monuments are rarer, and strongholds sit in rings around the origin. The structure guides explain the rules for each one and the clues you can use without a map.

Finding ores

Since the Caves and Cliffs update, every ore has its own height range. Diamonds are most common near the bottom of the world, iron peaks in two bands and gold is extra common in badlands. The ore guides give the best Y level for each ore and the safest way to mine there.

Seeds, coordinates and maps

A seed is the number that decides your whole world. The seed guides explain how to find your seed, why Java and Bedrock seeds match in terrain but not in structures, how text seeds turn into numbers and how to read the coordinates on screen. Read these first if seed maps are new to you.

FAQ

Do these guides work for Bedrock Edition?

Yes. Each guide covers Java and Bedrock and notes where the editions differ, such as structure positions and slime chunks.

Which Minecraft version are the guides for?

They are written for the current versions of Java and Bedrock, and mention older versions where world generation changed, such as the 1.18 update.

Do I need my seed to use the guides?

No, every guide explains how to find things in the game itself. With your seed, the seed map shows exact coordinates and saves a lot of exploring.
