A Trails and Tales voyage to the mushroom shore

Version 1.20 added the bamboo raft and the chest raft, and they are perfect for this journey. A raft is quick to craft in a bamboo jungle, and a chest version lets you ferry tools without a second trip.

Plan the route:

• Use the seed map to line up the coastline with the island.
• Pack a bed, food and some dirt to recreate a farm.
• Bring a brush, because warm ocean ruins along the way hide suspicious sand.

Archaeology can fill the trip. Brush the sand in a ruin and you might unearth a sniffer egg, which hatches into a sniffer that digs seeds on grass or dirt.

Once on the island, the quiet is a bonus. The biome has no natural hostile spawns, mooshrooms provide mushroom stew, and the mycelium grows mushrooms in any light, so you will not run out of food.

Building for the 1.20 palette

The island is a blank slate, and 1.20 gives you more block variety than earlier versions. Giant mushroom blocks provide red, brown and white surfaces, and they pair nicely with bamboo mosaic, cherry planks and the new hanging signs.

A few ideas:

• A stilted hut over the shoreline with bamboo floors and mushroom stem walls.
• A chiseled bookshelf wall for an enchanting room.
• A lighthouse with a campfire on top for ocean travellers.

Keep in mind that the island has few trees, so bring saplings from the mainland and plant them in the mycelium. A sniffer can supply torchflower and pitcher pod seeds if you want decoration.

When you want ore, build a boat bridge back to the mainland. The island is a calm base, but mining happens elsewhere.
