Java Edition 26.2 is the Chaos Cubed drop, released on June 16, 2026. Its big world-generation change sits underground: a new cave biome called sulfur caves. This Minecraft 26.2 seed map shows your world as the 26.2 generator builds it. Enter your seed to find the hills and mountains hiding sulfur caves, plus every village, temple and stronghold.
Sulfur Caves and Sulfur Springs
Sulfur caves are a new underground biome. They generate below the surface and inside hills and mountains. The walls show bands of sulfur and cinnabar. Sulfur pools sit on the floor, with potent sulfur at the bottom.
The biome has its own mobs, too. Sulfur cubes spawn here, and cave spiders replace regular spiders. Bring milk or a good shield before you go in.
On the surface, look for sulfur springs. These are mounds of sulfur, potent sulfur and magma blocks. They come in small, medium, large and extra large sizes. More importantly, they mark a sulfur cave below. If a sulfur cave breaks through to the surface, it keeps its underground blocks instead of turning into plain grass.
What Else Changed Under the Hood
Beyond the new biome, most 26.2 changes are technical. For example, dripstone features were renamed internally and now use configurable blocks. Large dripstone columns also got a slightly smaller maximum radius. Mojang made these changes so the sulfur caves could reuse the dripstone code.
For a regular player, the result is simple. Dripstone caves still look like dripstone caves. Surface biomes, villages and other structures follow the same rules as 26.1.
Does a 26.1 Seed Give the Same World in 26.2?
On the surface, a seed looks nearly identical in 26.1 and 26.2. Terrain shape, biomes and structure positions stay put. The difference is underground and inside high ground. There, sulfur caves take over space that was ordinary cave in 26.1. Sulfur springs also add new features on the surface above them.
Moving forward, 26.3 adds the dappled forest near cold biomes. So if you plan to update soon, compare both maps before you settle on a base.
Bedrock players got the same content in Bedrock 26.30, released the same day. Since 1.18, both editions share terrain and biomes for a given seed, so sulfur caves appear in matching areas.
Check Your Version, Then Use the Minecraft 26.2 Seed Map
To check your version, read the bottom-left corner of the title screen, or look at your profile in the launcher's Installations tab. The F3 screen shows it too. If you see 26.2, you are on the right map.
- Switch the map to the underground or cave layer view if your tool offers it, then scan hills and mountains for sulfur caves.
- Use sulfur springs as surface landmarks. Dig down near one to reach the cave quickly.
- Note the coordinates of a sulfur cave before you mine. Copy the /tp command if you play in creative.
- Check nearby villages for a safe base before you explore the caves.
