Minecraft 1.19 Seeds with a Village at Spawn
On Java 1.19 we tried 1,800 seeds, and 81 of them hold a village within 150 blocks of spawn. The nearest is 0 blocks away, so you spawn in the streets, and the average is just 39 blocks. The top seed is a plains start with farmland practically at your feet.

A village head start before the Wild Update's dangers
Version 1.19 introduced the Warden and the deep dark, which makes the surface village a safe launch point. You can build up your defences and food supply before descending.
Think about the order:
- Harvest the farm and keep seeds for a second plot.
- Trade crops for emeralds, then buy tools and armour.
- Craft a bed for your own use and set your spawn.
The village also has a bell, which rings in raids, and beds that determine how many villagers can settle. If you want a bigger trading hall, add beds and workstations in a safe area.
Since a village sits right on top of your spawn on some seeds, protect it. Place torches along the streets so zombies cannot spawn between houses, and build fences around the farm.
Allays, outposts and mud bricks
New in 1.19, the allay is a helpful flying mob. You can find them in cages at pillager outposts and in woodland mansions. A village close to spawn gives you a good base to rescue one, since outposts sometimes generate near villages and the pillagers there are dangerous.
To rescue an allay:
- Scout the outpost from a distance and lure pillagers away.
- Use a crossbow and a shield, and avoid fighting on open ground.
- Bring a bed or a safe retreat in the village.
Once you have an allay, give it an item and it will collect any matching items it sees. Play a jukebox to make it dance, then feed it an amethyst shard to duplicate it.
Also, the update added mud bricks, so you can upgrade village homes and add mangrove wood from the wandering trader's propagules.
Read how the seed hunter picks and rates seeds.
FAQ
How does an allay duplicate?
Make it dance near a jukebox, then give it an amethyst shard. After a short wait, a second allay appears.
Are pillager outposts near villages dangerous?
They are. Outposts hold several pillagers, and an ominous banner on a captain gives Bad Omen, which can trigger a raid.
Why would I add beds to a village?
Villagers breed only when they have free beds. More beds means more villagers and more trades.
Can I move the village bell?
Yes, but villagers will register the new location. Keep the new spot close to their homes.
