Cherry Grove

A cherry grove is a mountain biome filled with pink cherry trees and soft carpets of pink petals. It is one of the prettiest places in Minecraft. This cherry grove finder reads your seed and shows the nearest groves on the map above. Groves can be small, so knowing the exact spot saves you a long search.

Where cherry groves generate

Cherry groves form inland at medium or cold temperatures and low humidity. They show up on mountain slopes, as plateaus, or as valleys inside a ring of mountains.

At lower levels they border plains, sunflower plains, forests and dappled forests. Higher up you reach snowy slopes or frozen peaks. Meadows also sit nearby.

Size varies a lot. Some cherry groves are big, while others are only a few blocks wide. Dripstone caves and the deep dark are very common underneath.

What you find in a cherry grove

The biome is famous for its cherry trees. Their pink leaves drop small petal particles. The ground is grass with lots of pink petals, which you can collect and replant.

  • Bees: bee nests generate fairly often on cherry trees.
  • Mobs: rabbits, sheep and pigs.
  • Ores: emerald ore and infested stone, as in other mountain biomes. Coal and iron are common too.
  • Structures: pillager outposts and, since Java 26.3, abandoned camps. Villages do not generate here.

How to use the cherry grove finder

Enter your seed in the field above. The map heads to the closest cherry grove and marks it with a biome icon in place. The list on the left shows other groves. Pick a larger one if you plan to build, then click it for the coordinates.

In game, type /locate biome minecraft:cherry_grove if cheats are on. Teleport with /tp @s X ~ Z, or hike there in survival using your coordinates.

Cherry grove tips for builders

Cherry wood gives you a full pink wood set: planks, stairs, doors, trapdoors and more. Collect plenty of logs, since the trees are smaller than a jungle tree.

Pink petals work as a decorative ground cover. You can stack up to four on one block.

Cherry saplings drop from the leaves. Plant them at your base to grow your own pink forest. Bees will also help pollinate crops if you bring a nest along with Silk Touch.

Cherry grove resources at a glance

A cherry grove is more than a pretty view. Here is what you can collect in one visit:

  • Cherry logs and planks: a full wood set with its own soft sounds.
  • Pink petals: use bone meal on them to grow more.
  • Cherry saplings: plant them at home for your own grove.
  • Honey: from the bee nests on the trees.
  • Emeralds and iron: from the mountain stone below.

Since villages do not generate here, you will not find traders. Look for a village in a nearby plains or meadow instead.

Cherry groves also make good photo spots. Falling petal particles drift down from the leaves all the time, which looks great in screenshots. For a calm base, pick a grove on a plateau rather than a narrow slope. You get flat ground for building and still keep the pink view around you.

Cherry grove version history

Cherry groves arrived in the 1.20 Trails & Tales update. Before that, they were an experimental feature in 1.19.4. Pigs began spawning here during that experimental phase.

Java 26.3 added abandoned camps to the biome.
