Seed map › Versions › Bedrock 1.18

Bedrock Edition 1.18, Caves and Cliffs Part II, was released on November 30, 2021. It rebuilt the Overworld with new terrain, new biomes and a taller world. This Minecraft Bedrock 1.18 seed map shows your world with that generator. Enter your seed to explore huge mountains, lush caves and every Bedrock structure.

A New Overworld

Bedrock 1.18 is the biggest change in Bedrock world generation. The world now runs from Y −64 to Y 320. Deepslate fills the space below Y 0, and mountains climb far higher than before.

New biomes include:

  • Meadows, groves and snowy slopes
  • Jagged, frozen and stony peaks
  • Lush caves and dripstone caves underground

Huge open caves, long winding tunnels and underground lakes also appear. Ores follow new height ranges, so diamonds are most common deep below Y 0.

Bedrock and Java Now Share Terrain

Here is the key change for seed hunters. From 1.18 on, Bedrock and Java generate the same terrain and biomes for the same seed. A mountain, ocean or meadow sits in the same spot on both editions.

Structures are different. Bedrock uses its own placement rules for villages, temples, strongholds and more. So if you share a seed with Java friends, compare landscapes freely, but check structures on the right map.

Why Pre-1.18 Bedrock Seeds Look Different

Because the generator changed, a seed from Bedrock 1.17 gives a totally different world in 1.18. Spawn, coastlines and biomes all move. Old seed guides will not help here.

In upgraded worlds, explored chunks keep their old look, while new chunks use the 1.18 generator. So the map shows what fresh land will look like.

Moving to Bedrock 1.19, the surface stays the same, but the deep dark and ancient cities appear underground.

Checking Your Version and Using the Minecraft Bedrock 1.18 Seed Map

Open Settings and look near the bottom for the version number. Then explore:

  • Switch to 3D view to see the new peaks in full height.
  • Look for azalea trees on the surface. Lush caves often sit below them.
  • Mine deep for diamonds, well below Y 0.
  • Use the map to find a spawn-side village before you head into the mountains.

Lush Caves and Dripstone Caves

Bedrock 1.18 made two cave biomes a normal part of the world.

Lush caves are green and full of life. You will find moss, azalea bushes, hanging glow berries, big dripleaf and clay pools. Axolotls spawn in their water. Above ground, azalea trees often mark the spot.

Dripstone caves are full of pointed dripstone and dripstone blocks. They also hold extra copper ore. However, watch your step. Falling on pointed dripstone hurts, and stalactites can drop on you.

Both biomes show up on the map's underground layers. So you can choose a cave that fits your plans.

Lush caves are also a good source of clay, moss and glow berries for early farms. Dripstone caves, in turn, are great for copper. So mark one of each near spawn, and you will have most of your early resources covered.

FAQ

Do Bedrock and Java seeds match in 1.18?

Why does my old Bedrock seed look different?

Bedrock 1.18 replaced the Overworld generator, so pre-1.18 seeds give a completely different world.

Where do I find lush caves?

Lush caves generate underground. Azalea trees on the surface often mark a lush cave below.
