Seed map › Versions › Java 1.19

This page covers Java Edition 1.19.3, released on December 7, 2022, and 1.19.4, released on March 14, 2023. Both build the same world from a seed. This Minecraft 1.19.4 seed map shows the deep dark, ancient cities and mangrove swamps, plus strongholds in their 1.19.3 positions. Enter your seed and find what you need.

Strongholds Moved in 1.19.3

The key change in this range is subtle but important. In 1.19.3, Mojang rewrote the code that places strongholds to make it faster. Strongholds still form the same rings around the world origin. However, each one may now sit a few degrees off from where it was in 1.19.2.

In practice, this means an old stronghold guide may point you to empty stone. So if you play on 1.19.3 or 1.19.4, use this map rather than the 1.19.2 one. The rest of the world, from ancient cities to villages, stays put.

Desert Pyramids Got a Secret Room in 1.19.4

Version 1.19.4 added a new room to desert pyramids. It is filled with sand and suspicious sand, and some of it sits at the same height as the blue terracotta. Desert wells also got suspicious sand underwater.

On top of that, 1.19.4 moved the rules for snowy foxes and white rabbits into biome tags. They still spawn in snowy biomes like snowy plains, groves and frozen peaks, but data packs can now change that list.

Cherry groves and trail ruins existed in these versions only behind the 1.20 experimental toggle. This map shows the default world without them.

How 1.19.4 Compares to Neighboring Versions

Here is a quick summary:

  • 1.19 to 1.19.2: same terrain and biomes, but strongholds sit in their older positions.
  • 1.19.3 to 1.19.4: this map. New stronghold positions, and from 1.19.4 the desert pyramid room.
  • 1.20: cherry groves and trail ruins arrive, while strongholds stay where 1.19.3 put them.

So if you are planning an End run, the version matters more than you might expect.

Checking Your Version and Using the Minecraft 1.19.4 Seed Map

Read the version in the bottom-left of the title screen, or check your profile in the launcher's Installations tab.

  • Turn on the stronghold marker and copy the coordinates of the nearest one.
  • Use eyes of ender to confirm, then dig down at the marked spot.
  • Mark a desert pyramid and bring a brush to clear the new suspicious sand room.
  • Check ancient cities in the deep dark for loot before the End fight.

Planning an End Run in 1.19.4

Each Java world has 128 strongholds spread across eight rings. The first ring holds three strongholds between 1,280 and 2,816 blocks from the world origin. As a result, the closest stronghold is usually in that first ring.

Here is how to use that with the map:

  • Find the three first-ring strongholds and pick the one nearest your base.
  • Throw an eye of ender once to confirm the direction.
  • Walk to the marked spot and dig down.

Since 1.19.3 nudged the positions, this step is where the right version saves you the most time.

FAQ

Why are strongholds in different places on 1.19.2 and 1.19.4?

1.19.3 changed the stronghold placement code. They still form rings, but each stronghold can move a few degrees.

Does 1.19.4 have cherry groves?

Only with the 1.20 experimental toggle turned on. In normal worlds, cherry groves arrive in 1.20.

What changed in desert pyramids in 1.19.4?

A new room filled with sand and suspicious sand was added, and desert wells got suspicious sand underwater.

Is 1.19.3 the same world as 1.19.4?

Yes for terrain, biomes and structure positions. 1.19.4 only adds the new desert pyramid room and suspicious sand in wells.
