Seed map › Ores Finder › Emerald Finder
Emerald ore only appears in mountain biomes, so most players never see much of it. This Minecraft emerald ore finder predicts where emerald ore generates from your seed. Enter a seed and the map marks predicted ore in mountains near spawn. Click a result to copy its coordinates or a /tp command. Then climb up and start mining.
Where Emerald Ore Generates
Emerald ore is the only Overworld ore that depends on biome. It generates only in these mountain biomes:
- Meadow and cherry grove
- Grove and snowy slopes
- Jagged peaks, frozen peaks and stony peaks
- Windswept hills, windswept gravelly hills and windswept forest
Outside these biomes, you will not find any. Instead, emeralds usually come from villager trading.
Best Y Level for Emeralds
Emerald ore generates from Y -16 to Y 320. Its chance peaks at Y 232 and falls off toward both ends.
However, few mountains reach Y 232. In practice, most emerald ore sits much lower, inside the stone of large mountains. So the best plan is to mine through the highest mountain you can find. Tunnels high up in peaks give you the best odds.
Emerald ore mostly appears as single blocks or tiny clusters. It can replace stone, granite, diorite, andesite, tuff and deepslate.
Emerald ore also replaces deepslate and tuff below Y 0, where it becomes deepslate emerald ore. That is rare, though, since the chance falls off quickly at those depths. For the best results, stay high in the mountain. Look for exposed faces on cliffs first, then tunnel into the stone behind them.
Using the Emerald Ore Finder Map
Choose your edition and version, then enter your seed. The map shows predicted emerald ore near spawn, sorted by distance.
Click a result to copy coordinates or a /tp command. You land on the ground above the spot, which may be on a steep slope. Next, mine into the mountain to the listed Y level. Mining with Fortune increases the emeralds you get.
Watch out for infested stone in windswept and mountain areas. It releases silverfish when broken.
Limits of Emerald Predictions
The finder repeats the game's ore placement for each mountain chunk. Caves and ravines can still remove ore afterward. Biome borders matter too, since ore only forms where the mountain biome applies.
So dig a few blocks around each marker. If a marker sits right on a biome edge, check both sides.
Emeralds from Mining vs Trading
Most players earn emeralds by trading with villagers, not by mining. Farmers, fletchers and other professions buy common items for emeralds. A small farm can turn into a steady emerald income.
Mining still has its place, though. Emerald ore is a nice bonus while you collect other mountain resources. Mountains also hold large amounts of iron and coal in their upper layers.
Here is when each method makes sense:
- Early game: mine any emerald ore you see, since you may not have a village yet.
- Mid game: set up crop or stick trades for a steady supply.
- Late game: combine trading with a raid farm for large amounts.
Emeralds also make a fine decoration. Nine of them craft a block of emerald, and the bright green looks great in builds. They also work as a beacon payment.
So use the finder when you want to mine a mountain efficiently. It shows where the ore clusters are before you start digging.
